I really did appreciate the platform of Etsy; with it's original intention. I am grateful for the advocacy of small business and the well crafted hand made. Etsy did provide an incredible service.
Now, imagine your income tax going up by 30%. I think that may be what it's like for many on Etsy and their recent hike in fees. It's tricky enough not to undervalue your work and still list pieces that are affordable to consumers.
I support the position of promoting personal websites. I have had an Etsy site for just about two years and I'm not counting on those sales to fill the pantry - but some are. If you are on Etsy and you see something you like, please find that personal website and order through them directly.
